The whole week has revolved around a personal item I am making for myself for a super exciting, top secret project (dont worry, I will be doing the big reveal in the month of May). The planets just did not align the way I intended so it was down to the wire as of yesterday in time for today’s photoshoot. Today has been all about the pics. Photography and the styling process is a ton of preparation- even for my plain jane presentations. I am so behind with my photos it is not even funny, but there will be some new stuff to look at soon.
The next pattern release is almost ready! Spoiler alert: this one will be called the Reviver Skirt and it is a one piece and one yard wonder- seriously. I cant wait to share it, but I am still ironing out the details and fine tuning the cocktail namesake.
Thursday I could be found perusing the FIT special collections archive for a new endeavor. I have recently learned about a designer by the name of Hannah Troy who is credited with the invention of petites. Surprisingly for such an important woman there is very little information available. I’m looking forward to sharing what I have discovered so far, but reseach is still in process. I am lucky enough to have access to a lot of different resources in NYC such as FIT, Vogue Archives and Garment Center connections that I plan on finding out a lot more and putting together something more comprehensive.
Last but not least, all work and no play makes me a very dull girl. I am breaking out of my sewing cave to join The Sewing Swap Meet + Party at the Workroom Social Pop-Up Studio from 8-10 p.m. Proceeds from the party will go to Rational Animal, a non-profit that helps at-risk animals in the NYC area by sewing and distributing animal beds to local shelters. Ginger, Oona, and Fleur will be teaching seminars throughout the day on Saturday and you can sign up to join the fun, but space is limited so sign up now! Can’t make saturday? Sit and sew with Jennifer, the Founder of Workroom social. She is a blast to hang out with and offers a ton of knowledge and expertise. Hope to see you then!
