Thursday’s blog theme was centered around the sewing community and spreading the love of our craft. Today’s theme is to put your game face on and gear up for a bit of friendly competition. If you are like me and a challenge excites, Sewing Indie Pattern Month has the perfect opportunity to show your skills and support your fave pattern designers.
Mari from Seamster Patterns has coordinated a whole month of Sewalongs (no small feat!). From May 1st thru June 4th, whip out your favorite indie patterns and participate in one or all of the categories below:
Wanette of Sown Brooklyn leads the sewalong for an indie love affair where you mash up of two or more indie designer patterns to make an original garment.
Laura of Lilacs and Lace heads up the category “Dressed to the Nines”. Here you can show off your skills as you make yourself a special occasion garment
Jenny of Cashmerette leads the pack in the category for casual, everyday items that you want to sew and will want to wear every day
Over at Rhonda’s Creative Life, submit your entries for your best pattern hacking skills- taking an indie pattern and making into something brand new.
Want more details? Here are the official rules.
Also, one winner will be chosen at random to receive a bonus prize. No time to participate? You can submit your votes on the sew along host pages to vote for your favorite projects.
I would love to see the petite community represent and show off their SBCC patterns as part of the competition. Because though we be little, we are fierce!
