Power Mesh: It’s Not Just For Bras Anymore
Posted by Betsy Cook on

I love power mesh and I’m not a bra maker (not yet anyways. Someone get me a couple extra hours for each day then we will talk). This stiff but supple fabric is like elastic, but with a modern point of view. That is exactly what I use it in place of- elastic. Why, because it is super thin, has great recovery and gives just enough grip to feel secure, but does not make you feel like you have a bungee cord around you.

Note: When you put the pants on for the first time you will hear a bunch of cracking noises. This will be the basting stitches breaking unless you remove them.

How can you tell it's power mesh? Could it be used for a slingshot? Yes, then you have got the right stuff!

Very Good… i really like your blog…
Hi Jeanne,
Unfortunately I don’t think power mesh will help with the folding issue. I think it’s kinda a combination of where the waistband hits on your body and the waistband height. Maybe if it’s a higher waist, it wouldn’t fold so much.
My waistbands, no matter what height, always fold over, or in half. It doesn’t matter where they sit on my waistline, either. I am a pear. Will power mesh help with the folding?
EXCELLENT USE!!! I have been creating a stash of it by purchasing remnants of it since i can never find the actual bolt of it. My plan is to make a few bras and swimsuits, but I need skirts and bottoms more! I will be making pencil skirts and dressy pants using this method. Thank you!
Thank you for the great idea. I sure will try it on the next waist band. I have been putting off making pants. Now I can. Thanks! Barbara
